Fall

I love Fall.  It is such a beautiful time of year.  The air become so crisp and cold.  The leaves have such a wonderful color to them that we can enjoy by just looking out into our yards or taking a drive up in to the mountains close by.  It doesn't matter.  We are so blessed just to experience this pleasure.  At one time we would have been out in the fields finding pumpkins for the kids.  Now they go with their own children to experience the joy and happiness that comes from such innocence.  As you can see I have put out my fall decorations.  This time of year I love to put them out because they will last for 2 months.  I think I am an orange person because I never tire of that color.

This is my new read.  It is called DEWEY.  It is about a cat left in a library bin and adopted by the library.  The fabric on the table are pieces I found on sale to work into costumes for Lilly and Gabby.  I love the purple and the stripes.

Lee and I  got up early to bring in the garden whimseys and pack away the patio furniture.  This we only do when the time is absolutely necessary.  I love the back yard.  I love to sit and read or contemplate the world and how I can help fix things.  I haven't come up with a solution yet but I'll keep thinking about it.

I am working on Sharing Time for tomorrow using the scripture that talks about "serving with all your might, mind and strength."  I am taken back to the time when as a young girl I would go with Mom almost every week to help her clean Aunt Norie's home.  She was so faithful to her sister  and seeing that she had her house cleaned.  I was happy when I had to do it only once every month when my kids were teens.  Anyway, on one of these weekly cleanings, Mom stopped at a house on 5th East and we went inside to visit this woman that was bedridden due to a deteriorating back.  I couldn't believe that my mother would do this.  She didn't know this person and yet here she was at her door.  After visiting with her, Mom had her history and knew what her needs were and proceeded from that moment on to make sure she was taken care of properly.  Mom found things she could with her hands.  She made  many bed jackets for her because those were the only pieces of fun clothing she could wear.  Mom continued to see  this woman for the next several years.  That is a lesson in service that she left her children.  There were many other acts of service that she rendered.  Many weren't known until after her death and friends started to share with us what she did for others.

I've messed my pics up again.  Girls, will you help me?

Dad is in the process of finishing up the painting in the 2 rooms downstairs.  Then the great cleaning will take place and much will be gotten rid of. (hopefully)When that is done I will move my sewing room downstairs and we will start on the bedroom up here.  We will be turning it into a sitting, reading, tv room with a new light green sofa and a orange chair  (see colors at bottom.  We'll probably paint a light brown with white trim.  I think it will look great.
So  we have a winter full of things to do to keep us busy besides all my projects that I am working on.  I love looking at blogs that have all these wonderful new fabrics.  I have ordered these little girl patterns with frilly pants and cute tops.  Can't wait.

I'm thinking you are finding a lot of things to keep yourself busy. Can't wait to see the new sitting room. Although, I still haven't figured out where the grandkids are going to sleep. ;)

Laurie, I love reading your blog. Who would have thought you'd start a blog???? I remember that lady on 5th East so well and how kind mom was to her. And have you read "Grace" by Richard Paul Evans? I read it this weekend, and you will ALL love this one. It's a quick read. Thanks for reminding all of mom's grandchildren with your memories of her. What we wouldn't give to have a moment with her.
